DomeGuys International recently constructed an Eco Living dome in Williams, OR for a private client. DGI worked with the client over the course of the year, designing the customizations for the geodesic dome, advising on the foundation platform, and managing in-house financing.

With a three-person crew (and a little help from Petunia LaRue), the geodesic dome went up quickly despite the chilly February day. When the winter weather did set-in, the DGI crew finished erecting the frame and packed up, returning the next day to put the cover on in dryer, less-muddy conditions.

This dome is nestled in the forest of the Siskiyou mountain range. In an effort to take full advantage of the natural surroundings, DGI helped the client design a custom bay window on one full side of the dome cover made from clear vinyl. Additionally, the dome is outfitted with a complete window band running the circumference of the dome.

We were happy to work with the client on payment plans through our in-house financing, allowing him to pay down the cost of his dome over a period of time with a series of payments. DGI was happy to make his dome-dream come true, and provide him with his off-the-grid home.

If you would like more information on how we can make your dome-dream come true, contact us. And give us a call about our in-house financing options!

No matter what time of year, people regularly face the destructive forces of nature. Nature is indiscriminate when it comes to earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, mudslides, gale-force winds, sand-storms, and flash floods. Just this week, over two dozen homes were damaged by a tornado that rolled through small towns south of San Antonio, Texas, and a devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Guerrero and Oaxaca, Mexico destroying over 2,000 homes.

In response to these kinds of natural disasters, DomeGuys International provides Disaster Relief domes. Geodesic domes are an excellent solution to whatever Mother Nature throws at us. Domes offer excellent, immediate emergency shelter in the wake of a disaster. Geodesic domes are resilient structures that hold up under high winds and heavy loads. They are quick to assemble and disassemble, providing a quick and easy solution in a devastated area.

Not currently affected by a natural disaster, but want to be prepared in the event of one? Geodesic domes store well, using a minimal amount of space. Keep a dome on hand in the event that disaster strikes, or set it up now as your survival outpost.

Read more about ways to use DGI’s geodesic domes for your disaster relief, then contact us to order your disaster relief dome.

Now I’m humming The Breeders, back from those early days of Lollapalooza…At the time, Lollapalooza was a new kind of festival. It promised a weekend of popular music that crossed genres, include experiential non-music features, and, in the early 90′s, brought the festival to towns across the nation. A touring festival was a new concept and proved to lose its viability. Now festivals rely on the participants to travel, and many festival-goers tour, hopping from one festival to the other following their favorite bands, or the eternal summer offered by the music festival experience. In many respects, it paved the way for the festival’s we recognize today, which for the West Coast include Bumpershoot, Sasquatch, High Sierra, Burning Man, and Coachella.

For many, Coachella Music Festival marks the kick-off of the Summer festival season. Though there are plenty of festivals that happen throughout the year, by the time Coachella is in full swing people are ready to hit the festival circuit, collecting their array of wristbands along the way.

And, I’m happy to report that this includes DomeGuys!

While the misty rain collects around us here in Southern Oregon, it’s easy to get lost reminiscing about warm summer nights spent dancing to our favorite bands (under the canopy of one of our domes, of course!). While Coachella may not be bringing back their Dome stage, it remains a highlight of many people’s experiences…and a hot topic on Coachella’s forum. It’s also one of the highlight’s for us here at DGI.

Of course, much buzz this year has centered on the ticketing fiasco for Burning Man, where over 40% of the ticket buyers who registered for the lottery had never been to the event before. Over here at DGI, we’re veterans of Black Rock City, having participated and provided geodesic domes for theme camps, projects, and venues for years. And we’ll be doing it again in 2012!

In 2010, we built a 36-foot blackout dome for EyezOnVegas. It was a particularly awesome venue because the blackout cover blocked out the hot desert sun, making it a great place for music throughout the day, complete with a light show and projections. Check out our time-lapse video of the construction:

Needless to say, this dome was an epic success. Since then, blackout domes have become increasingly popular on the playa, and DGI supplied at least two for the 2011 festival. A lot of domes last year went to private theme camps, who used 20 – 36 foot domes to provide needed camp shade, kitchens, and dressing areas. When constructed properly (as we always do), DGI domes are secure from even the most veracious dust storm, and with one of our event covers fitted to the frame, you can create a dust-free space in the midst of the playa. Imagine that!?!

So, while you prepare your theme camp registrations (due by April 26) and as you layout your camp designs, don’t forget to include a dome! Contact DomeGuys International to make your camp the best it can be with a geodesic dome! You may even find something to suit your needs in our In-Stock Deals…Check it out!

And now…courtesy of my reminiscing, I give you The Breeders…Summer is ready when you are!

As the late winter snows melt away, it’s time to think about your springtime garden. With a geodesic dome greenhouse, you need not wait until the ground and air temperatures warm up. Your dome can create a perfectly habitable environment for your plants to grow and thrive.

Geodesic domes are known for their excellent energy-efficiency and good air circulation, both qualities that make for an excellent growing environment. There is no need to spend extraordinary amounts of money on heating, cooling, or ventilation. The spherical structure makes the most of your natural light, no matter the position you choose.
